SERVICES:Valley Grinder is based in Salida, Colorado in the heart of the Arkansas River Valley. Our service area include Leadville, Gunnison/Crested Butte, Fairplay, Westcliffe, Alamosa, and their surrounding areas.
Construction Waste. Wood, drywall, and cardboard typically account for 75 to 80% of construction waste by volume. This material needlessly ends up in landfills at a substantial cost to the homebuilder. If a homebuilder is self- hauling these materials to the dump, the real and often hidden costs of fuel and transport, tip fees, labor, and the time spent dumping rather than building add up quickly, and the savvy builder will quickly realize the convenience and cost effectiveness of Valley Grinder services. Your time is valuable, let us handle this tedious task!
We will visit your site and consult with the contractor/homebuilder and crew to determine where to accumulate material to be ground. Clean wood scraps (clean means no paint or stain, and no pressure treated products) will be stockpiled in a location convenient to the construction crew, and provides good access to place our equipment. We need a fairly level area to operate the Grinder. The only added responsibility for the crew will be disposal of waste material in the proper place, which will likely be just about where the giant dumpster would have been. Trash would go in a small dumpster or job trailer located adjacent to the woodpile to ensure no added time or hassles for the crew!
Nails do not need to be removed; they are sorted and collected automatically, leaving a nice clean pile of chips. Engineered products like I-joists and plywood grind well with no environmental impacts. The Grinder loves to eat pallets too.
We can arrange a grinding schedule to suit the needs of the homebuilder. For example, one visit at the end of the job, or a visit upon completion of various stages of building, i.e., after framing inspection and again after drywalling is complete. On a larger job, the contractor could also call for Grinder services on an as-needed basis. If desired, ground material can be removed from the site altogether.
Valley Grinder can eliminate the need for the giant dumpster traditionally used on typical construction sites. A smaller, restaurant style dumpster can then be used for disposal of items requiring disposal, like plumbing and electrical waste, insulation, lumber packaging material such as tyvek and metal straps, etc.
Slash. Fire mitigation and lot clearing activities produce large quantities of slash. This generally creates a fire hazard, it is ideal habitat for a variety of pests, takes up valuable space, and is an eyesore! Valley Grinder will go to the site of the slash pile and simply make it disappear. Valley Grinder is available to governmental agencies for processing and removal (if desired) of this material.
Transport. The Valley Grinder dump truck is available to haul material to another site, to remove ground material, or for other appropriate purposes. We have a payload capacity of 18 cubic yards or 6-7 tons. This service is not necessarily limited to grinding-related activity. Call us if you need lighter weight material transported!
