Welcome to the Buena Vista Organics Recycling Center! Valley Grinder is now operating this facility in response to demand for such a service after the closing of the former brush pit at the BV Rodeo Grounds. The Town of Buena Vista was allowing dumping at the former brush pit, which they were just not able to allow to continue for a variety of reasons, including health and pest hazards, oversight needs, and the great expense of chipping.

The town has also realized a continued need for this service, and Valley Grinder is pleased to step in to assist the town and the citizens in providing this valuable service. We accept most organic materials and construction waste for a fee competitive to that of the Chaffee County Landfill.

Our hours are Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is sometimes possible to schedule a drop off by calling 719-207-0767. Hours may expand if the demand dictates. If you have a large volume of any of these materials, we offer mobile grinding services as well, and can come to your site to process materials. Call for more details.

Materials accepted include greenwaste (slash, brush, branches), leaves, and grass trimmings. Fees for larger materials up to 10” diameter are $11 per cubic yard, a little less for smaller material. Grass and leaves are $5 for a pick up truckload. Acceptable construction waste includes dimensional lumber, OSB/wafer board, LVL, I-joists, plywood, drywall, and other materials typical in construction. The grinder also chews through pallets like potato chips! NAILS AND SCREWS ARE OK to be left in the wood, they are magnetically sorted during the grinding process. Please be aware of nails left in construction waste.

We now have an option to collect materials previously considered unmulchable, including green pressure treated, painted or stained material, and some demolition material, please call for details.

The BV Organic Recycling Center is located on County Road 319, AKA Glenn Drive (The sign on Hwy 24 says “Recycling Center”), go past the airport and Colorado Mountain College. Turn south at the Arkansas Valley Humane Society and we are right next door to the animal shelter.
